# Dev incentives

> A bonus for the dev each time their coin's volume on 2hour.fun passes a milestone: $2M in all by $1B, shared with holders if the dev chooses.

There are way too many coins launched and dropped the same day. Dev incentives pay devs for sticking around and building: each time a coin's volume on 2hour.fun passes a milestone, its dev earns a bonus on top of their [creator fees](https://docs.2hour.fun/fees.md).

Dev incentives are paid by 2hour.fun and are separate from Rewards coins. A reward coin's holders get its reward tax from every trade; Dev incentives come on top of that, on any coin, Normal or Rewards.

## The milestones

| Volume on 2hour.fun | Paid at this milestone | Total paid by then |
| - | - | - |
| \$1M | \$2,000 | \$2,000 |
| \$5M | \$8,000 | \$10,000 |
| \$10M | \$10,000 | \$20,000 |
| \$50M | \$80,000 | \$100,000 |
| \$100M | \$100,000 | \$200,000 |
| \$500M | \$800,000 | \$1,000,000 |
| \$1B | \$1,000,000 | **\$2,000,000** |

It's paid in steps as the coin grows, so by $1B the dev has been paid $2,000,000 in all.

Each bonus is 0.2% of the volume traded since the milestone before, about $2,000 for every $1M. So $80,000 at $50M pays for the $40M traded from $10M to $50M, and $100,000 at $100M for the $50M from $50M to $100M. That's the same as the dev's own 20% of the fee over each stretch, so every milestone doubles what they earned in it.

## What counts

* **Only 2hour.fun's own pools:** the launch curve and the pool the coin graduates into. Trading on other exchanges, perps or anyone else's pools doesn't count.
* **Real traders:** trades by the dev's side are left out: the wallet that launched the coin, other wallets on the same account, wallets bundled at launch and, on Robinhood Chain, wallets the dev sent the coin to. Each milestone also needs enough different traders, each with a trade of $5 or more: 100 at $1M, 300 at $5M, 500 at $10M, 2,000 at $50M, 5,000 at $100M, 15,000 at $500M and 25,000 at $1B.
* **The dev stays in:** a dev can sell up to half of the most they've held, counted across the dev's side. Moving coins to any other wallet counts as selling. Sell more, and that milestone's bonus goes to the coin's holders instead. A dev who never held any of the coin still gets the bonus.
* **Locking doesn't count as selling:** coins in a [dev lock](https://docs.2hour.fun/dev-lock.md) still count as held, and burned coins count as kept.

Bonuses are paid in ETH or SOL at the price when the milestone is confirmed. Up to \$10,000 they're paid automatically. Bigger ones are checked by the team and paid from our treasury. A coin whose dev's side still holds a large part of the supply is also checked by the team before it's paid. Every payment is listed on [Payouts](https://docs.2hour.fun/payouts.md).

## Sharing with holders

When launching, or later on the creator dashboard, a dev can share **0%, 50% or 100%** of a coin's bonuses with its holders. Each holder's part depends on how much they've held and for how long since the last milestone, with each wallet capped so no one wallet takes most of it. The dev's side is left out, and parts under \$1 are shared out among the rest.

Raising the share locks it for 7 days. After that it can be lowered again, and raising it again starts a new 7-day lock. At each milestone, the share that counts is the highest it was in the 7 days before: lowering it only counts a week later, so holders can't be cut out at the last minute.

## Badges

* **Builder:** for devs, counting the milestones their coins have passed.
* **Skyscraper:** for devs, the highest milestone one of their coins reaches.
* **Fair share:** sharing 100% of a coin's Dev incentives with its holders.
* **Shared from launch:** picking a share with holders when launching.
* **Believer:** for holding a coin as it passes a milestone.
* **Early believer:** buying a coin in its first hour and still holding it as it passes a milestone.
* **Kept the faith:** holding one coin through milestones in a row.
* **Tipping point:** making the trade that takes a coin past a milestone.
* **Town crier:** sharing a coin's milestone card.
* **Two secret ones**, found by holding.

Faking volume is expensive: every trade pays the 1% fee, trades by the dev's side don't count, and each milestone needs enough different traders. Faking $1B of volume would cost $10M in fees.
