# Risks

> The risks of creating and trading new coins, in one place. Please read before you trade.

New coins are some of the riskiest things you can trade. Only use money you can afford to lose completely. Nothing on 2hour.fun, or in these docs, is financial advice or a recommendation to buy or sell anything.

## Prices

* **New coins can go to zero.** Many do, often quickly.
* **Prices move very fast.** New coins usually have little money in them, so one large trade can move the price a lot in seconds.
* **A few holders can move the price.** If a large share of a coin sits in a few wallets, them selling can bring the price down sharply. Check the [safety badges](https://docs.2hour.fun/safety-badges.md).
* **Locked liquidity isn't a floor.** It stops anyone pulling the pool's liquidity, but holders, including the creator, can still sell.
* **Past moves don't predict future ones.** A coin's chart, a trader's record or a good call tell you nothing certain about what happens next.

## Pairs

* **Stock tokens aren't shares.** A stock token tracks a share's price, but it's issued by a third party and isn't the share itself. A stock-paired coin's value also moves with that stock.
* **Stablecoins can lose their \$1 value.** A stablecoin is designed to stay at \$1, but that isn't guaranteed.
* **ETH and SOL move too.** A coin's dollar value changes with the price of its pair.

## Technology

* **Smart contracts can have bugs.** 2hour.fun's contracts, and the exchanges and programs they use (Uniswap, Raydium, wallets), are software and could contain errors.
* **Networks can be busy or go down.** Trades can fail or be delayed, and a failed transaction can still use a network fee.
* **Converting uses an outside service.** [Convert](https://docs.2hour.fun/convert.md) relies on Relay to swap or pay out on the other chain. It can have bugs or delays.
* **Transactions can't be reversed.** Funds sent to the wrong address or network usually can't be recovered, by anyone.

## Your wallet

* **Your key, your responsibility.** Whoever has your private key or seed phrase controls your wallet. 2hour.fun can't recover a lost or stolen key.
* **Scams target crypto users.** Fake sites, fake support and fake coins are common. See [Official links](https://docs.2hour.fun/official-links.md).

## Rewards and extras

* **Nothing is guaranteed.** Holder rewards depend on trading activity, which can slow or stop. Refund Bot wins are random and rare. Giveaways may or may not happen.
* **Creator fees depend on trading.** Launching costs \$500, and there's no guarantee anyone will trade your coin.

## Where you live

Crypto rules differ between countries, and some services may not be available where you are. You're responsible for following the rules that apply to you, including any tax on your trades. When you first sign in, you confirm you're not in a country where using 2hour.fun is restricted (see [the one-time terms step](https://docs.2hour.fun/wallet.md#the-one-time-terms-step)).

## Independence

2hour.fun is independent. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Robinhood Markets, Inc., the Solana Foundation, or any company whose name, network or tokenised stock appears on the site. Tokenised stocks are issued by third parties, not by 2hour.fun.
