Test drive is a simulated market. Not real money. No real coins are bought or sold, and nothing is paid in or out.
Test drive puts you on a new coin’s curve for 1 minute, with a $1,000 practice balance and the site’s own one-tap pad. It’s open to everyone now, before trading opens on 2hour.fun, at 2hour.fun/test-drive.

10 rounds a day

  • New rounds arrive every day at 21:00 UTC, the moment the real launch window opens.
  • The day’s 10 rounds are the same for everyone.
  • Each round is its own coin, its own kind of market and its own starting point. Some run hard, some fade, some chop around, some come back. A launch round can run into the hundreds of thousands in market cap in seconds, and give most of it back just as fast.
  • Each round lasts 1 minute and starts with a fresh $1,000.
Pick a round from the strip above the chart. Each one shows its coin and where it starts, and your result once you’ve driven it.

Where each round starts

Round 1 always starts at the launch. The others start somewhere along the coin’s life: A round that starts after the launch comes with its history: the coin’s trades from its launch to where you come in, shown dimmed on the chart under Before you. The made-up traders already hold the coin by then. Only the minute from where you come in is yours to trade.

How the market works

  • Real curve maths. Prices follow 2hour.fun’s own bonding curve, in dollars: buys push the price up and sells bring it down.
  • The 1% fee. Every buy and sell pays the same 1% trade fee as the real site.
  • Made-up traders, snipers and whales. Dozens of made-up traders buy and sell through the minute, several times a second. On a launch, the snipers all buy in the first half second, before anyone could react. A few whales buy or dump in one go, so the price can jump or drop by a third in a single candle.
  • Your trades move the price. They go in between everyone else’s, so what the other traders get moves with you. After your trades, the market leans back towards the round’s own path, so one big buy can’t take over a round.
  • After graduation. A coin that graduates carries on trading at the same price and depth. That’s simpler than a real pool, and it’s marked on the chart.

Trading

The pad works like the site’s one-tap pad: one tap, one trade.
  • Buy: $50, $100, $250, $500 or Max.
  • Sell: 25%, 50%, 75% or Max of what you hold.
Your balance, what you hold and your result update as you go, and your buys and sells make the site’s trade sounds (Settings turns them off). “Simulated market. Not real money.” is on screen the whole time.

Your card

When the minute ends, you get a TEST DRIVE card: your result, the round’s chart with your buys and sells marked on it, and where the round started. Share it as a picture or as a replay video.

The boards

Every day has a board for each round and a day’s board:
  • A round’s board ranks the first run of that round by each signed-in account, by profit or loss.
  • The day’s board adds up each account’s board runs across all 10 rounds.
  • Yesterday’s board stays up after the new rounds arrive.
Only your first run of each round, started while signed in, goes on the boards. You can drive a round again as often as you like, but later runs are practice: by then you know how it goes. Signed out, you get one free run with its card, but nothing goes on the boards. Sign in to drive again.
Results are scored by the server, not your browser. Your trades are sent as a list when the round ends, and the server replays them on the same market to work out your result. A list that couldn’t have happened, such as buying past your balance or selling coins you don’t hold, isn’t counted.

Badges

  • Tester: finish a test drive (+50 XP). Finish signed out, then sign in on the same device, and it’s added to your profile.
  • Road tested: finish test drives on 5, 15 and 30 different days (+25, +75 and +150 XP).
  • Podium: finish a day in the top 3 on the day’s board (+200 XP).
  • Pole position: finish a day at #1 on the day’s board (+500 XP).
Podium and Pole position are given once a day’s board is final, at 23:00 UTC: runs started before the new rounds arrive have until then to finish.
Test drive is a simulation with made-up traders. Real coins, real traders and real prices behave differently, and a result here says nothing about how a real trade would go. See Risks.
